This above ^^ is why you need different firmware.

Is this all from the logs? There is no tuner type set and this will
prevent you from tuning to a channel/freq.

This version of ivtv is pretty old and it is recommended to have at
*least* version 0.10 (implies kernel 2.6.18 through 2.6.21). Better yet
get a 2.6.22 kernel or up which has ivtv included. Also with the later
kernels you can compile the latest and greatest from the v4l-dvb repo.
I am not sure but Mandriva 2008 comes with a 2.6.22 kernel.
